Why do I need a metal seed phrase backup?
Your 12 or 24 word recovery phrase is the only way to restore a wallet that is lost or broken. Paper burns, fades and dissolves; stainless steel and titanium survive house fires, flooding and decades in a safe.
Steel tiles or stamped plates?

Do I need to record the whole word?
No. The first four letters of each BIP39 word are unique, so backups that hold four letters per word store everything needed to recover.
Can one backup hold a 24 word seed?
Most products here hold 24 words. Check the product page for capacity, and buy two if you want a copy in a second location.
